What is venation?

Venation is how leaves are connected to their veins, just like how your hands are connected to your fingers.

Imagine you have a leaf that looks like a green hand, it has long finger-like parts, and the middle part is like the palm. The veins in the leaf are like little roads that carry food and water from one part of the leaf to another. These veins help the leaf do its job, just like your fingers help you grab things.

Like a Leaf's Road Map

If you look closely at a leaf, especially on the bottom side, you’ll see lines, those are veins. Some leaves have veins that look like a net (like a spider’s web), and some have veins that run straight from one end to the other, like railroad tracks.

These patterns help the leaf get food and water more efficiently, it's like having different kinds of roads in a city: some let you go fast, others let you reach every corner.
