What is vector?

A vector is like a special kind of arrow that tells you not just how far something has gone, but also which way it went.

Imagine you're playing with your toy car on the floor. If you push it straight forward, it goes in one direction. That's simple movement. But if you want to make it go diagonally across the room, like from the couch to the table, you need to think about both how far and which way it moves.

That’s where a vector comes in handy! It shows you two things:

  • How long or strong the push was (magnitude)
  • Which direction the car went (direction)

Like a Treasure Map

Think of a vector as a treasure map. If the map says, "Go 5 steps forward and then turn right for 3 more steps," that’s like telling your toy car to move in a specific way, just like a vector tells you how far and which way something moves.

So, when you're pushing your toy car or drawing arrows on paper, you’re using vectors all the time!
