What is ugly?

Ugly is when something looks not nice or not pretty, like a messy room instead of a tidy one.

Imagine you have two toy boxes, one is neat, with all the toys lined up nicely, and the other is messy, with toys scattered everywhere. The messy box feels ugly because it's hard to see what's inside, and it doesn't look as fun.

Ugly things can be anything that doesn’t feel good to look at, like a smudged drawing, or a sock that has been worn for too long and is all crumpled up. They might not be bad, just not pretty.

What makes something ugly?

Sometimes, ugly happens when things are out of place. Like if your favorite cookie is broken into pieces, it's still tasty, but it doesn’t look as nice anymore.

Other times, ugly can feel like a surprise, like if you’re expecting a smooth road, and suddenly there’s a big bump in the way. It might not be bad, but it feels not nice because it catches you off guard.
