What is Typography?

Typography is how we arrange and design letters so they look nice and are easy to read.

Imagine you're building a tower with blocks, each block is a letter. If all the blocks are the same size, shape, and color, your tower looks simple but maybe boring. But if you mix in some big blocks, some small ones, or even some that sparkle (like shiny letters), your tower becomes more interesting to look at.

Letters, like the ones on this page, have special styles called fonts. A font is like a costume for letters, it changes how they look and feel when you read them. Some fonts are round and friendly, like the one you might see on a birthday card. Others are pointy and serious, like the ones used in books about dragons.

When we choose which font to use, we're doing typography. It helps make reading fun, just like choosing different blocks makes your tower more exciting!
