What is trustlessness?

Trustlessness is when you don’t need to believe someone, you can just check for yourself.

Imagine you and your friend are sharing toys at recess. Normally, you might trust them not to take all the best toys. But what if they lie about how many toys they took? That’s trust, you believe them without checking.

But with trustlessness, it's like having a special toy counter that both of you can see. No matter what your friend says, you just look at the counter and know exactly who took more toys. You don’t need to trust them, you can check for yourself!

How It Works in Real Life

Think about a vending machine. When you put in money and press a button, you get a snack without needing to trust the machine or the person who put the snacks inside. The machine just follows rules that both you and the person know.

That’s trustlessness, everyone agrees on how things work, so no one has to believe anyone else. You just follow the rules and everything works out! Trustlessness is when you don’t need to believe someone, you can just check for yourself.
