Tears come out when something makes our eyes feel sad, surprised, or even happy, like when you get a big hug or see a friend after a long time.
How Tears Are Made and Sent Out
Inside your eyes, there are little factories called tear glands. These factories make the liquid we call tears.
When something happens that makes your eyes feel strong emotions, like crying because you're sad or laughing really hard, these tear glands get a message to work harder. They start making more tears and send them out through tiny tubes, just like how water comes from a tap when you turn it on.
