What Are They?
A triangle has 3 sides, just like a slice of pizza. If you look at a traffic sign that says "Yield," it's shaped like a triangle!
A square has 4 equal sides, and all its corners are right angles, like a book or a tile on the floor.
A hexagon has 6 sides, imagine a honeycomb made by bees. Each cell is a hexagon!
Why Are They Special?
These shapes fit together nicely in different ways:
- Triangles can make strong structures, like bridges.
- Squares are great for tiling floors without any gaps.
- Hexagons are efficient and show up in nature, like honeycombs or some kinds of nuts.
They're not just pretty shapes; they help build things you use every day!
Examples
- A pizza is cut into six equal slices (hexagons)
- A bee's honeycomb has hexagonal cells
