What is traffic?

Traffic is when lots of cars or people move from one place to another at the same time.

Imagine you're on a really busy playground. All the kids want to get to the slide at once, and they all start running in the same direction, it’s like a big line of moving bodies. That's kind of what happens with traffic: lots of cars are trying to go somewhere, and they move along roads just like kids move across the playground.

Think of a road like a hallway in your school. When only one kid is walking down it, it’s easy, but if everyone walks at once, it gets crowded and slow. That's how traffic works: when cars are going too fast or too close together, they can’t move smoothly, just like kids bumping into each other.

Sometimes a big truck comes in, that’s like the tallest kid blocking the hallway for a while. Everyone has to wait until it passes before moving on.

Traffic doesn't stop you from getting where you're going, it just takes longer than usual!
