What is time?

Time is like a clock that helps us know when to wake up, eat, play, and go to sleep.

Imagine you have a bag of marbles, and every day you take one out to show how many days have passed. That’s what time does, it helps us count the moments we live through, like from morning to night, or from birthday to birthday.

How We Measure Time

Time is measured using hours, minutes, and seconds. Think of a sand clock, when the sand flows down, that shows how much time has passed. A day on Earth is about 24 hours long, just like it takes you a certain amount of time to walk from your house to school.

Time Helps Us Know What’s Next

Time also helps us know what will happen next. If it’s Monday, we know that Tuesday comes after, and soon it’ll be the weekend, time is like a friendly helper who tells us when to laugh, rest, or play again!
