What is thorax?

The thorax is like the strong middle part of your body that helps you move and breathe.

Imagine your body is like a toy robot. The head is the face and eyes, the legs are for walking, and in between them, right where your heart and lungs live, is the thorax. It's kind of like a box or a cage that holds all those important parts safe.

How it works

The thorax has special ribs, think of them like little shelves inside you, that help protect your heart and lungs, just like a helmet protects your head when you ride a bike. When you take a deep breath, your chest expands because the thorax stretches a bit to let more air in.

You can feel it working if you put your hand on your chest while you breathe. It moves up and down, that's your thorax doing its job!

So next time you're playing or running around, remember: your thorax is like the engine of your body, keeping you going!
