The human nose is like a special door that helps you smell things and breathe easier.
Imagine your nose is like a little doorway on top of your face. When you breathe in, air goes through this doorway into your body. It helps you get oxygen, which is what your brain and body need to stay happy and active all day long.
Smell is Like a Superpower
Your nose also has tiny smell sensors inside it, like little helpers that can tell when there's something tasty nearby, like cookies or pizza. These helpers send messages to your brain, telling it, “Hey, this smells good!”
Sometimes, your nose helps you know if the air is cold or warm, just like how a thermometer tells you if it’s hot outside.
When your nose is blocked by mucus or something else, it's like that doorway getting closed, and then it's harder to breathe and easier to get sniffles!
Examples
