What Is the Difference Between Microbes and Germs?

Microbes and germs are both tiny living things that can be found all around us, but they're not exactly the same.

Microbes are like little helpers, some make our food taste better, like the ones in yogurt. Others help plants grow or even help you break down your food inside your body!

Germs, on the other hand, are more like troublemakers, they can make you sick if they get into your body. Think of them as the reason you might sneeze or have a tummy ache.

Microbes: The Good Guys

Imagine you're eating ice cream. Some microbes in that ice cream are happy little helpers who make it creamy and delicious. They’re like friends who hang out with you every time you eat dessert!

Germs: The Naughty Ones

Now think about when you forget to wash your hands before eating. Sometimes, those tiny troublemakers, germs, jump from your dirty hands into your mouth and cause you to feel icky.

So microbes are mostly helpers, while germs are more like the sneaky ones who want to make you feel bad!
