What Is the 'Dark Side' of the Moon Really Like?

Imagine the moon is like a giant ball that always shows us one face, kind of like how your favorite toy might always show you its cool side. The other side, which we can’t see from Earth, is called the dark side of the moon. But it’s not actually dark all the time! Sometimes the sun shines on it just as brightly as it does on our side. When it doesn't get sunlight, it gets really cold and dark. So the 'dark side' isn’t always dark, it's more like a hidden part that we can only see sometimes.
