What is sustainability?

Sustainability is when we take care of our world so it stays good for everyone, now and later.

Imagine you have a big cookie jar full of cookies. Every day, you eat one cookie from the jar. If you keep eating one cookie every day without adding any new ones, eventually the jar will be empty. That means no more cookies for you or your friends tomorrow. Sustainability is like making sure we don’t eat all the cookies, we leave some for later.

Like Sharing a Playground

Think of the Earth as a big playground. You and your friends play on it every day, running, jumping, and having fun. But if you all take too many swings or use up all the sand in the sandbox at once, there won’t be anything left to enjoy tomorrow. Sustainability means using what we have wisely, like taking turns on the swings or saving some sand for your friend.

So when we talk about sustainability, we're talking about making sure the Earth keeps being a fun and happy place for all of us, now and in the future.
