What is sunshield?

A sunshield is like a big umbrella that helps keep things cool when they're outside in the hot sun.

Imagine you’re playing on a really sunny day, and your favorite ice cream starts to melt. You pull out an umbrella to block the sun, that’s kind of what a sunshield does, but for something much bigger, like a spaceship!

A sunshield is made up of several layers, just like how you might wear a thick sweater on a cold day. These layers help spread out the heat from the sun so that the spaceship doesn’t get too hot inside.

Think of it like wearing a jacket in the summer, the jacket stops the heat from getting to your body. The sunshield works the same way, but for a spaceship traveling all the way to another planet!

Spaceships need to stay cool so their tools and people can work properly. Without a sunshield, the inside of the spaceship might get too hot, just like how your ice cream melts when you're in the sun!
