Sticky means something clings to other things and is hard to get off.
Imagine you're eating a piece of fruit, like a banana. If you touch it with your fingers, and then go to shake your hand, the banana sticks to your fingers. That’s what sticky feels like! It's like when you put honey on toast, and the honey holds on to the bread, making it hard to peel off.
What makes things sticky?
Some things are naturally sticky, like gum or syrup. They have a special way of holding on to other surfaces.
Other times, something can become sticky after you touch it. Like when you put your finger in glue and then lift it up, the glue sticks to your finger, making it hard to pull away.
Sticky is all about things that don’t want to let go, like a friend who doesn't want to leave a party!
Examples
- Why does gum stick to your shoe? Because it's got gooey stuff that grabs on.
