What is sperm?

Sperm are tiny swimmers that help make babies.

Imagine you have a toy boat that can move on its own, that's kind of like a sperm! Just as your boat needs water to float and sail, sperm need something called fluid to move through. This fluid is inside the body, and it helps the sperm travel from one place to another, like in a big swimming race.

How Sperm Look

Sperm are super small, so small that you can’t see them without a special tool called a microscope, which acts like a magnifying glass for tiny things. They look kind of like little tails with a head on one end, and they use their tail to swim through the fluid.

What Sperm Do

When a sperm meets another special cell (called an egg), they join together, just like two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly. This joining helps start the journey of making a new baby!

So, sperm are like little swimmers on a mission, and they use their tail to help them travel until they find their match!
