What is spacecraft?

A spacecraft is like a special kind of airplane that can go all the way to space and even beyond.

Imagine you're playing with your toy car, it zooms around on the floor, right? Now imagine if that toy car could fly up through the sky, leave Earth behind, and travel to the moon or other planets. That's what a spacecraft does! It’s like a super-powered toy car for astronauts.

A spacecraft has big engines, think of them as the superhero muscles that push it forward. These engines use special fuel to make the spacecraft go really, really fast. Once it leaves Earth's atmosphere, it doesn’t need much help to keep moving, just like how you don’t need a lot of effort to keep rolling once you're on a slide.

Sometimes, spacecraft carry people, these are called spaceships. Other times, they’re just carrying tools or other robots to explore space. Either way, they help us learn more about the universe, and maybe even find new places to live one day!
