What is Sound doesn’t travel as far?

Sound doesn’t travel as far when there’s something in its way or when it gets tired.

Imagine you’re shouting to your friend across a big playground. If there are no trees or buildings blocking the path, your voice can go all the way to them easily, like a strong wave in the ocean. But if there are lots of people talking around you, or tall trees in between you and your friend, it’s harder for your voice to get through.

What Blocks Sound

Sometimes, things like walls, thick curtains, or even wind can stop sound from going far. It's like when you're trying to blow a paper boat across a pond, if there are rocks in the way, the boat doesn’t go as far.

Why Sound Gets Tired

Sound also gets weaker as it travels. Think of it like a toy car rolling on the floor. The farther it goes, the slower it moves until it stops. Similarly, sound loses its strength as it moves away from where it started, that’s why you can hear your mom calling you from across the house but not when she’s in the next town.
