What is solar?

Solar is when we use sunlight to make energy that powers our homes and toys.

Imagine you're outside on a bright day, and you take out your favorite toy, like a solar-powered car. You point it toward the sun, and poof, it starts moving! That’s because sunlight is hitting a special part of the car called a solar panel. These panels are like little helpers that catch sunlight and turn it into electricity.

How It Works

Think of sunlight as tiny balls bouncing from the sun to Earth. When they hit the solar panel, it’s like catching those balls and using them to make your toy go, or even power your house!

Sometimes we use batteries to store that energy so you can play with your toy even when the sun isn’t shining.

Why It's Cool

Using solar means we’re using a free, endless supply of energy from the sun, just like how you get energy from eating your favorite snack, except this one comes straight from the sky!
