How a Smoker Uses Cigarettes
When someone takes a cigarette, they light it with a match or a lighter, like lighting a small fire in their hand. Then, they breathe in the smoke through their mouth and nose, this is called smoking. The smoke goes into their lungs and helps them feel more awake or calm.
Some people do this all day long, just like how some kids drink juice every morning to start their day off right.
What Happens Over Time
If someone keeps using cigarettes for a long time, the smoke can make it harder for their lungs to work well, kind of like when your legs get tired after running around all day. But that’s something we’ll talk about another time!
Examples
- A person who takes a puff from a cigarette every day at lunchtime.
- Someone who lights up a cigar after dinner with friends.
- A student who smokes to stay awake during late-night study sessions.
