What is slinky?

A slinky is like a long, wiggly spring that can walk down stairs all by itself.

Imagine you have a really stretchy bracelet made out of metal rings, that's what a slinky looks like. When you hold it at the top and let it go, it slides down step by step, almost like it's dancing on the stairs.

The slinky moves because of its special shape. Each ring is connected to the next one, so when you let it go, the first part starts moving down, and then the rest follows, kind of like how a line of people walking down a hallway can all move at once.

You can try this with your own slinky or even a shoelace. If you hold it up and let it drop on the floor, it will bounce around and keep moving for a while, just like when you jump on a trampoline!
