What is Siberia?

Siberia is like a really big, cold playground that stretches across the top part of Russia.

Imagine you're playing outside on a super chilly winter day, and your feet are numb from walking through snowdrifts that seem to go on forever. That’s Siberia, a huge area with extreme cold, where people live in houses that feel like little caves inside, and the ground is often covered in white snow or frozen ice.

Like a giant freezer

Siberia is so big it could fit several countries inside it. It’s like having one of those huge freezers in a grocery store, except instead of just keeping food cold, it keeps an entire region chilly for most of the year. In some parts, the temperature can drop to -40 degrees, which means even your breath turns into tiny clouds!

A home for tough people

Even though it's super cold, people live there all year round. They wear thick coats and boots, and sometimes they build houses right on top of the snow or ice, like a cozy tent in the middle of a frozen lake.

Siberia isn’t just a place to stay warm; it’s also where some of the wildest animals in the world live, like wolves, bears, and even mammoths (long ago). It's as if the earth itself is wearing a big, icy hat!
