What is self-continuity?

Self-continuity is when you feel like you, the same you, even though things around you are changing.

Imagine you have a favorite toy that you carry with you everywhere. No matter where you go, or what you do, that toy stays with you. It helps you remember who you are. That’s kind of how self-continuity works, it's like having an invisible toy inside your head that reminds you you're still you, even when life gets busy or you grow up.

Like a Story You're Writing

Think about reading a book. Each page tells a little part of the story, but you know it’s all connected. Self-continuity is like being the main character in your own story, even though new chapters come every day, you still feel like it's your story.

When You’re Growing Up

When you're little, you might not always remember what happened yesterday. But as you get older, you start to see how all those days connect. That’s self-continuity, it helps you understand that even though you're changing, you're still the same person who started this story a long time ago.
