Scared is when something inside you makes your heart go boing-boing and your body feel like it wants to hide or run away.
Imagine you're playing in the park, and suddenly a big dog jumps out from behind a tree! Your heart starts beating fast, you might jump a little, and you might say "Oh no!" That’s being scared.
What makes you scared?
Sometimes it's something big, like a loud noise or a monster on TV. Other times it's something small, like a shadow in the corner of your room, or a new kid at school.
Scared is not bad
Being scared is like getting a little surprise from your body. It’s how you know something interesting or even tricky is happening. And just like how you can learn to ride a bike, you can also learn to be brave when you're scared, and that feels super cool!
