What is sausage?

Sausage is like a cozy blanket wrapped around a bunch of tasty meat.

Imagine you have some meat, maybe from a pig or a cow, and you chop it up into little pieces. Then, you mix it with some spices like pepper or garlic to make it extra yummy. Now, instead of leaving that mixture loose, you put it inside a tube, which is usually made from the skin of an animal, like a pig. This tube is called a casings.

Once it's all packed in, you can cook it, maybe by boiling, frying, or even grilling, and it becomes a sausage. It’s like having a little meat-filled cylinder that you can eat on its own or put into a sandwich or a bun.

How Sausage Feels

If you’ve ever eaten a hot dog, that's like a sausage too! The difference is that hot dogs are usually pre-made and come in a bun. A sausage is more like the inside of a hot dog, something you can put into a bun or just eat as it is.

You can even make different kinds of sausages by changing the meat, spices, or how you cook them, just like how you can make different kinds of sandwiches!
