What is Resolution?

Resolution is how clear and detailed something looks when you look at it closely.

Imagine you're looking at a picture on a screen. If the picture has resolution, it means it has lots of tiny dots, called pixels, that make up the image. The more pixels there are, the clearer and sharper the picture looks. It's like having a puzzle with many small pieces: the more pieces you have, the better the full picture looks.

Think of a cookie sheet. If it’s covered in tiny chocolate chips, it looks smooth and detailed, that’s high resolution. But if it has just a few big chocolate chips, it looks rougher, that's lower resolution.

When you look at something with low resolution, like a blurry photo or an old TV screen, it feels like you're looking at a cookie sheet with only a few chocolate chips, you can see the chunks, but not all the detail. With high resolution, it’s like seeing every little chocolate chip on that cookie sheet, everything looks nice and clear.

So resolution is how many tiny dots or pieces make up something, and the more there are, the clearer it looks!
