What is Relay?

Relay is like a message runner who helps friends talk to each other across a big playground.

Imagine you and your friend are playing hide-and-seek at opposite ends of a huge playground. You can’t see each other, and the grass is too tall to shout over. So, you pick a relay runner, someone who runs from one end to the other and whispers the message from you to your friend. That way, you can keep playing without getting caught!

How Relay Works

  • When you want to send a message, you tell the relay runner.
  • The runner goes all the way to your friend and says the message out loud.
  • Your friend hears it clearly, and then they can reply back through the same runner.

It’s just like how messages are sent between computers over the internet, instead of runners, there are special tools that pass messages along from one place to another.
