What is quantify?

Quantify means to count or measure something so you can compare it to other things.

Imagine you have a bag of jellybeans, and you want to know how many are inside. If you just look at the bag, it’s hard to tell, it might look like a lot, but maybe it's not as much as you think. But if you count them one by one, then you can say exactly how many there are. That’s quantify in action!

If your friend also has a bag of jellybeans and you both count yours, you can see who has more or less. You might even decide to trade some jellybeans so you both have the same amount, that’s fairness through quantifying!

Measuring with Blocks

Think about building towers with blocks. If you build one tower and your friend builds another, it's fun to guess which is taller. But if you count how many blocks each tower has, then you can say for sure who built the tallest tower.

So, quantify means using numbers or measurements to help you understand and compare things, just like counting jellybeans or stacking blocks!
