What is probe?

A probe is like a special tool that helps us find out what’s going on inside something we can’t see clearly.

Imagine you have a toy box full of blocks, but the lid is closed, you can't see what's inside. A probe would be like reaching your hand in to feel around and figure out what shapes are hiding there. It doesn’t tell you everything at once, but it gives you clues about what’s inside.

How a Probe Works

Think of a doctor using a stethoscope, that’s a kind of probe! The doctor listens to your heartbeat through the stethoscope to check how healthy your heart is. Just like the doctor uses the stethoscope to learn more about your body, scientists use probes to learn about things like space, tiny cells in our bodies, or even faraway planets.

Why We Use Probes

We use probes when we want to know something without touching it directly. Like when you put your ear to a door to hear what’s going on inside, that's like using your body as a probe! Scientists use special tools for this job, but the idea is the same: they're just asking questions and looking for answers.
