What is press?

Press is when you push something down so it changes shape or gets flat.

Imagine you're playing with clay. If you press your hand on top of it, the clay squishes and becomes thinner, that’s press in action!

Think about how cookies are made. Bakers use a tool called a cookie press to push cookie dough through a special shape, making little stars or circles. That’s press too, it's pushing the dough so it comes out in fun shapes.

You do this every day! When you press your palms together, you're using press to make a flat surface. Or when you press down on a toy car to make it go faster, that’s also pressing!

So remember: press is just pushing something so it changes shape or gets flat, like when you push clay, dough, or even your hands!
