What is prediction?

Prediction is when we guess what will happen next based on things we already know.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You stack them up one by one, and every time you add a new block, it gets taller. If you keep doing this, you can predict that the tower will get even taller if you keep adding more blocks, just like how you know your favorite toy will make noise when you press the button.

Like a Little Detective

When we predict, we're acting like little detectives. We look at clues from before and use them to figure out what might come next. For example, if it’s raining outside and you see clouds in the sky, you might predict that it will stay wet for a while, just like how you know your cookie will be warm when you take it out of the oven.

The More Clues, the Better

The more clues we have, the better our guess can be. If you’ve seen your friend eat a lot of candy before and then get a tummy ache, you might predict that they’ll feel sick again if they eat too much candy today, just like how you know your backpack will feel heavy when you put all your toys in it.

Prediction is everywhere, and it helps us make sense of the world around us!
