What Makes Up Plant Matter?
Think of your favorite snack bag, it has different kinds of food in it. Plant matter is kind of like that snack bag for plants. It includes things like:
- Leaves, which are like a plant's hands, helping it catch sunlight.
- Stems, which act like the plant’s legs, holding it up and moving water and nutrients around.
- Roots, which are deep underground, like the plant’s feet, grabbing water and food from the soil.
Why It Matters
When you eat an apple or a carrot, you’re eating plant matter too! Just like your body needs food to grow and play, plants need their plant matter to stay healthy and strong.
So next time you see a plant, think of it as a happy, green friend who uses its plant matter to live and grow, just like you use your snacks to keep going all day!
