What is Phase 5?

Phase 5 is when you learn to read big words and understand how they're made from smaller parts.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different blocks. In Phase 1, you learned the simple blocks, like "a", "b", and "c". In Phase 2, you started putting those blocks together to make bigger things, like "cat" or "dog". In Phase 3, you began reading longer sentences, just like a story. In Phase 4, you met blends, like “sh” in "ship" or “th” in "think".

Now, in Phase 5, you're getting ready to read even more complicated words, the kind that might have letters you've never seen before, like “x”, “z”, and “qu”. These are called tricky parts. You’ll learn how they work together, just like how your favorite puzzle pieces fit into a bigger picture.

You’re becoming a reading detective, solving clues to figure out new words, every time you read, it's like opening a new chapter in your storybook!
