What is perforin?

Perforin is like a tiny sword that some special fighters use to help them win battles inside our bodies.

Imagine you're playing a game where you have to take down bad guys who are hiding inside your cells. These bad guys are called invaders, and they’re trying to stop you from keeping your body healthy. That’s when the special fighters, called killer cells, step in.

Perforin is what makes their sword work. When the killer cells get close to an invader, they use perforin to poke holes in the invader's armor, which is like a tough outer layer that protects them. Once there are holes, the killer cell can send in tiny poison bubbles to make the invader go away.

Think of it like this: if you're trying to break into a locked room, and someone pokes holes in the wall, it's much easier for you to get inside and do your job. That’s exactly what perforin does, it helps killer cells take down invaders more easily so our bodies can stay strong and healthy.
