What is parallel?

Parallel means things are going on at the same time, just like when you and your friend both ride your bikes down the street, you on one side, your friend on the other.

Like Two Lines on a Paper

Imagine drawing two straight lines on a piece of paper. If they never meet, no matter how far you go, they are parallel. It’s like when you and your friend walk in straight paths but stay apart, you’re both moving forward, just not bumping into each other.

Like Two Trains on Different Tracks

Think about two trains going the same direction on separate tracks. They can both speed up or slow down, but they never touch because they're on their own parallel tracks. That’s how parallel works, things doing similar things at the same time, without getting in each other’s way.
