What is paper?

Paper is like a flat, soft board you can write on or draw with crayons.

Imagine you have a bunch of trees, tall and strong. People cut them down and turn them into little pieces called wood pulp, which feels like wet sand. Then they mix that pulp with water and spread it really thin, almost like the goo you get from a playdough machine. After that, they let it dry, and poof, you have paper!

If you touch paper, it's like touching a blanket made of tiny little fibers. It can be smooth or rough, thick or thin, just like how your blanket feels on different days.

You can write stories, draw pictures, fold it into airplanes, even make origami animals! Paper is super useful because it’s light and easy to carry around. It's like having a magic backpack that holds all your ideas inside.
