What is Oxygen and nitrogen?

Oxygen and nitrogen are invisible helpers that make up most of the air we breathe every day.

What is Oxygen?

Oxygen is like a friend who helps you run faster or play longer without getting tired. When you take a breath, your body uses oxygen to keep going. It’s in the air around you, and it's also in water, like when you swim underwater and then pop up for air.

What is Nitrogen?

Nitrogen is more of a quiet helper, it doesn’t do much on its own, but it’s there to support the other friends in the air. If you think about a big bubble bath, nitrogen is like the water that lets the bubbles float around and stay fun for longer.

Together, oxygen and nitrogen make up most of the air we breathe, kind of like how your favorite snack has both chips and dip to be super tasty!
