What is One piece of information?

A piece of information is like a special message that tells you something important, just like a note from your friend in class.

Imagine you have a backpack full of toys and books. Each toy or book has its own name, like "Teddy Bear" or "Math Book." Now, if someone says, "You have a red ball," that’s one piece of information, it tells you what is in your backpack, and what color it is.

Like a Special Message

Think of a piece of information like a note from your friend. If they write, "I will bring cookies to school tomorrow," that's one message, one piece of information. It helps you know what to expect and maybe even gets you excited!

If they also say, "My dog is sick," that’s another piece of information, it tells you something else.

So, just like a note can have one idea or many ideas, each piece of information is a little message about the world around you.
