What is Obesity?

Obesity is when your body has too much fat, and it starts to feel heavy and uncomfortable.

Imagine your body is like a backpack. When you put in just a few books, it's easy to carry. But if you keep adding more and more, toys, snacks, even extra clothes, eventually the backpack gets so full that it’s hard to move around. That’s kind of what happens with obesity: instead of just a few things, your body is filled with extra fat, making it harder to run, jump, or play.

What Causes Obesity?

Your body uses food like fuel. If you eat more than you use up, the extra becomes fat and stores in your body, kind of like saving up for later. But if this happens a lot, over time, that saved-up fat can grow bigger and bigger, making it harder to stay active or feel good.

How It Feels

Think about wearing your favorite pair of jeans on a special day. They fit perfectly. Now imagine wearing them every single day, even when you're not at the special event. After a while, they start to feel tight, and maybe even uncomfortable. That’s how obesity can feel: like your body is always a little bit full, and it's working extra hard just to keep going.
