What is non-self?

Non-self is like having a toy that you think is yours, but it's actually made up of many tiny parts that aren’t really you.

Imagine you have a big, bright teddy bear, your favorite one. You think the teddy bear is you because you play with it all day. But if you look closely, you’ll see it’s just stuffed fabric, thread, and buttons. None of those parts are you, but they make up the teddy bear.

That's what non-self means, it’s like that teddy bear. Your body feels like it’s you, but it's actually made of many things that aren’t really you. Like how your skin, hair, and even your thoughts are all parts working together, not a single, fixed thing.

What makes non-self fun?

Think about playing with friends. You laugh, you run, you play hide-and-seek. But none of those moments stay the same forever. They come and go, just like how non-self shows that nothing is fixed or final. It’s all part of a big, ever-changing game, and you're in it!
