Neptune is the biggest blue planet in our solar system, far out in space where it's really cold.
Imagine you're playing with a toy ball, that’s like Earth. Now imagine there's another toy ball, but it's much bigger and covered in blue paint, that’s Neptune! It’s so far away from the Sun that it takes about 165 years to go all the way around it.
How Big Is Neptune?
If you think of Earth as a marble, Neptune is more like a big beach ball. You could fit Earth inside Neptune more than five times!
What's It Like on Neptune?
Neptune has strong winds, so strong that they can blow faster than some airplanes! The weather there is super wild, and it’s really cold, like being outside in the middle of winter without a coat.
Even though we can’t touch Neptune, scientists use special tools to learn about it. It's like looking at a picture from far away, but with lots of clues to help us understand what's going on!
Examples
- A simple drawing of Neptune shows it as a blue ball with white clouds.
- A teacher explains that Neptune's color comes from methane in its atmosphere.
