What is movement?

Movement is when something changes place from one spot to another.

Imagine you're sitting on a swing at the park. When you push off and go swish forward, that's movement, your body is going from where it started to somewhere new. It’s like playing tag: when you run after your friend, you're moving too!

What makes something move?

Sometimes things move by themselves, like a ball rolling down a hill. The hill helps the ball go whoosh from up high to down low, that's motion in action.

Other times, something or someone has to give it a little nudge. Like when you kick a soccer ball: your foot pushes the ball, and whoopee, it zooms away!

Movement is all around us

You move when you walk, jump, or even just blink your eyes! Your toy car moves when you push it, and your pet dog moves when it runs after a stick. Movement is like a dance, everything in the world is always changing place, one step at a time.
