What is motivated?

What is motivated? means you have reason to do something because it helps you reach a goal.

Imagine you want to get a toy that’s on a high shelf. You can’t just sit there and wait, you need to jump or use a stool. That reason to jump or use the stool is what we call being motivated. It's like when you're really hungry and you’re excited to eat your favorite snack, that feeling pushes you to go get it.

Why You Are Motivated

Sometimes, you want something right away, like a cookie after dinner. That’s immediate motivation, it feels good now. Other times, you work toward something bigger, like saving up for a new bike. That’s long-term motivation, you know it will be better later, even if it takes more time.

Being motivated is like having a helper inside your brain that says, “Let’s go!” when you need to do something important.
