What is month?

A month is like a special group of days that help us keep track of time as we move through a year.

Imagine you have a big calendar in your room, and it's divided into chunks, each chunk is a month. Just like how you might break up a long journey into smaller parts so it feels easier to manage, we split the year into 12 months, which help us know when school starts, when holidays come, or when it’s time for your favorite birthday party.

Like a Big Clock

Think of a year as a big clock with 12 numbers on it, each number is a month. January is like the first number, and December is the last one. When we go from one number to the next, that means a new month has started.

A Month in Your Life

If you count how many days pass between your birthdays, that’s about 365, but each month gives you a smaller piece of time to enjoy. Some months are short, like February with only 28 or 29 days, and others have more days, like July with 31.

So, a month is just a chunk of time we use to help us remember where we are in the year, like a fun little helper on your calendar!
