What is metaphysical?

Metaphysical means thinking about things that aren’t just what we can see or touch, it's like asking questions about why things are the way they are.

Imagine you have a toy box full of blocks, cars, and dolls. You know how to play with them, you stack them up, drive around, and dress your doll. That’s physical, you're dealing with real, touchable stuff. But if you start wondering, “What if the toys came from somewhere else?” or “Could there be more things in the box that I can’t see?”, then you’re thinking metaphysical.

Like a Special Question Time

When you ask questions like “Why do we dream?” or “Is time really going forward, or is it just how we feel it?”, those are metaphysical questions. They're not about what you can see, they’re about what might be behind the things you know.

It’s kind of like asking your mom, “Why do I have to go to bed?”, she’ll tell you because you need rest, but maybe you start thinking, “What if dreams are messages from somewhere else?” That’s metaphysical imagination!
