What is Memetic evolution?

Memetic evolution is when ideas spread and change, just like how a game changes as more people play it.

Imagine you're playing a game of telephone with your friends, but instead of whispering a secret, you’re passing around a funny joke. The first person says, “I have a chicken in my pocket.” The next person might say, “I have a big chicken in my pocket.” Then it becomes, “I have a big chicken that lays eggs in my pocket.” That’s memetic evolution, the idea changes as more people share and add to it.

How It Works

Think of memes like toys that get passed around. Each time someone gets the toy, they might tweak it a little, adding a new color, or making it bigger. Soon, everyone has their own version of the toy, but it all started from one simple idea.

Just like how your favorite song changes when different people sing it, memes evolve as more people use and share them. The best ones stick around because they’re fun, just like your favorite game!
