What is materialist?

A materialist is someone who thinks everything comes from real stuff we can touch and see, like toys or food.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You stack them up to make a tower, that’s all made of real blocks, not invisible ideas or ghosts. A materialist believes the world works the same way: everything is made from things we can feel and move around, just like your blocks.

How it's like everyday life

Think about your lunch. If you're a materialist, you believe that sandwich, the bread, the cheese, the jam, came from real stuff someone grew or made. There’s no invisible magic making it taste good; it's just food, plain and simple.

What materialists don't believe in

A materialist might not think there are invisible people living inside your toys, telling them what to do. They’d say the toy moves because you push it, nothing more than real stuff doing real things.

So, being a materialist is like believing everything is made from the same kind of stuff you play with every day, just bigger and more complicated.
