What is longer?

Longer means something takes up more space from one end to the other.

Imagine you have two pieces of string, one is longer than the other. If you lay them out side by side, the one that stretches further is the longer one.

Like a Snack Line

Think about lining up for snacks at school. If you stand in line behind your friend, and there are more kids between you and the front of the line, your line is longer than your friend’s line. It means it takes more steps to get to the snack table.

Like a Race Track

Or think about a race track, if one track is longer, it means runners have more ground to cover before they finish. So, if you're running on a longer track, you'll need to run harder or longer to win.

When something is longer, it just means it goes farther from start to finish, like the string, the line, or the race track!
