Local means something is near you, like your favorite toy or the park you go to every day.
Imagine you have a backpack full of snacks. If you take one snack out and eat it right there, that snack is local to you, it's close by, and you can reach for it without walking far.
Now think about your neighborhood. The ice cream shop down the street is local because it’s near you. But if you go all the way to the other side of town for ice cream, that’s not local anymore, it’s far away.
What makes something local?
- It's nearby
- You can get to it easily
- It feels like part of your daily life
So, when we say a place or thing is local, we mean it’s close to where you are, and it’s part of your everyday world, just like the park, the ice cream shop, or even your favorite snack in your backpack.
Examples
- A local store is one that's close to where you live, like the corner shop down the street.
